I am truly the biggest advocate for automation in general. I find automation to be more than a task but rather a philosophy in the way an administrator handles and controls the environment he has been entrusted with. I believe that the longer you work in Information Technology, as well as the larger the environments get, that this should become more prevalent. The administrators nowadays, and especially in these economic times, are expected to do more and more and automation is the one of the only ways to be able to handle the “more” that is put on our plates as well as to handle the number of servers that just seem to keep getting larger and larger.
I had the opportunity to present my thoughts on this subject at the Virtualization Congress / Citrix Synergy event. The event is taking place this week at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. I would like to give congratulation and thanks to Alessandro Perilli for his part in putting together the Virtualization Congress part of the event. I know he has been working and planning this event for almost two years now and after having dinner with him and Scott Lowe on Monday it was very interesting to get some insight on what it takes to make something like this event happen.
I also had the opportunity to present this topic for a BrightTalk webcast and have the presentation below for you to check out yourself and see if you agree that automation can make your life better.
