The Vote is on Virtualization Congress 2009

by Steve  | January 6th, 2009

If you have not already heard, there is going to be another virtualization conference in 2009.  Alessandro Perilli, from virtualization.info, is putting together the Virtualization Congress 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. For more information on the show please check out this link.

Alessandro has done something different in the presentation selection process.  He has posted the title and abstract for the presentation for the public to select which presentations they want to see presented at the show.  I have to give kudos to Alessandro on a great concept for the presentation selection.  To see the list of shows and the abstracts please visit the selection site

My fellow blogger and virtualization guru, Scott Lowe has posted a blog about the presentation process.  Yes Scott, I do agree that numerous other potential and respected speakers are plugging their sessions and since you wrote the blog to point that out, I thought I should step up and join the club.

In case you did not know, I have also submitted a paper for review and look forward to the chance to be a presenter at something that looks to be a great and exciting event with a lot of other talented individuals.  My presentation is called “Yes, Automation Does Make Life Better” I am going to present from my own experience some of the really cool things that I have automated from the ESX 1.5 / 2.0 days to present.  I really believe that automation is really what makes the great virtualization administrators great.  I have been preaching this, as well as co-authored a book, on this very subject. I try to always practice what I preach and believe that automation can elevate your career to a more advanced level that will allow you to more effectively design and manage any virtual infrastructure.  Building the scripts helps you to fully understand how things work under the covers.  It is that understanding and knowledge that help to make the good administrators great.

If this sounds interesting to you or think it would be useful to others would you please cast your vote. I appreciate any and all support for this.

Another note on this show, when looking over the different presentations, I notice that automation is becoming a common theme and topic.  With advent of PowerShell coming into play, this will be more and more relevant to all administrators in the virtual world.

With all this talk on automation and scripting one might wonder how I ended up with Tripwire?  Well I will need to leave you wondering for now, but look forward to revisiting this a little later on.  Things that make you go hmmm…..
