Marketing to VI Professionals

Lurking in Technical Waters

by Karen  | December 4th, 2008

Yesterday I listened in to VMware’s weekly podcast, “Community Round Table Panel,” to get a better understanding of challenges facing VI engineers. I was planning to just listen in briefly to get a feel for what people are talking about, and was surprised to be sucked in by what are very pressing issues these guys are facing. The limitations of ESXi, lack of VMware management solutions, speculation about whether free tools or third party tools or even VMware itself will help fill this void… even though these aren’t my daily concerns I can see how it’s a big deal. I was also impressed with the camaraderie and support everyone gave each other. It sort of made me want to be a VI engineer & leave this overly-glossed out world of marketing… Or rather, it underscored my drive to make sure marketing isn’t so separate from the technical.
